Action!

Class 3 have been studying how authors use their vocabulary choices to create action packed sequences that grab the reader. We used these strategies in our own writing. Here is a fantastic example of an action sequence written by Isabella McCormack in Y4.

Astrid ran up to the volcano. The larva pools around here started to vibrate. Out of nowhere came the hideous scaled nightmare. Astrid's heart skipped a beat. Cautiously, she reached for her sword. Suddenly she was surrounded by flames. How could she ever slay the beast now?

Nimbly, she just managed to leap over the blazing flares. At that very moment the murderer lashed out a vicious claw at her; she leapt backwards and charged at the hideous creature. The monster pounced elegantly. Astrid leapt; her sword facing downward. The beast moved. She landed with a thud on the ground. She lay there unconscious on the boiling floor.
